Barretstown have created a Masterplan in order to guide the long-term growth and development of the site. It offers an opportunity to enhance the existing campus, central to the operational needs of this very special place and its relevance to the children, the families and the staff alike.
The primary concept of the Masterplan is to promote a compact development in close proximity to the existing built-up areas on the site. This will maintain the sylvan character of the lands within Barretstown Demesne.
Architecturally, all of the buildings have been sensitively designed by MDO, and will in time merge seamlessly with the character of the place, blending to secure the sustainable institutional identity of this particular historic campus.
Taking inspiration from the existing heritage and built forms on the site, the aim of the proposed master plan is to create a campus of buildings formed around new streets and courtyards.
