This project involved the enhancement and reconfiguration of Technological University Dublinââ¬â¢s Aviation Technology Centre. The centre is designed to provide hands-on teaching and workshop spaces where students interact with various aircraft types and develop crucial fabrication skills.
The project operated under a PW-CF5 construction contract, with our firm serving as both Architects and Employers Representative, managing the Public Works Contract from the construction phase to project completion. The project navigated a challenging landscape, reconciling a stringent budget and rigorous programme while securing the essential approval from the HEA, SOLAS, and the partner airlines that employ the apprentices. This journey involved a complete overhaul of the brief, necessitating considerable engagement with stakeholders
Accessibility was at the forefront of all changes, with the addition of a lift and an accessible WC, ensuring compliance with TGD Part M. This project serves as a testament to the potential of considered architectural transformation in shaping education's future.ÃÂ
