The series of office developments at Grand Canal Square, delivered by MDO and Studio Libeskind, began with the design and construction of the basic structure, core, exterior, and all elements which would remain in place regardless of tenant, allowing for maximum flexibility. Sustainability and efficiency were key pillars throughout the process, with close collaboration between the client, design team, and contractor.
Echoing the sharp geometric forms of the adjacent Bord Gáis Theatre, the office development departs from a regular rectangular footprint to shape unique public spaces outside, and engaging atriums and floorplates inside. The adaptable floorplates, along with a strategic use of natural light and solar control, resulted in all buildings achieving a BER A3 energy certificate, and a BREEAM rating of âExcellentâ, the highest achievable level from the worldâs most widely-used environmental assessment method.
